Asti Spumante DOCG
Spumante Asti DOCG was born in the second half of the 19th century thanks to the experiment of Carlo Gancia, who applied sparkling wine-making methods to those sweet wines already produced in the Asti area.
In the 20th century, the techniques were further refined and speeded up (Metodo Martinotti) and Spumante became an appreciated and sought-after product even outside Piedmont. Since 2011, the designation has also been extended to sparkling wines made with the Metodo Classico.
